Product Launches: It’s Getting Noisy Out There. Time To Zig Zag.
My ADD has been kicking into high gear recently; I feel like I’m not able to keep up any more.
It all stared back on a dark and stormy night back in 2003 when I did my first “Product Launch” that generated over $1,000,000 in sales for a company within the first few weeks.
Since then, I’ve created many other launches, but more importantly, I’ve watched and studied hundreds of product launches in many different niches over the years to get ideas for future launches. It wasn’t too bad, really. There was a major launch happening in the Internet Marketing industry every few weeks, and I could easily keep track of what was happening out there.
However, today is a different story. Product Launches are happening daily - often several large launches happening each and every single day in the same industry. And if you’re one of those people with ADD like me, then you know first-hand how overwhelming these launches have become.
In fact, it’s reached a point recently where I’ve had to opt-out of many, many lists that I’m on. Sadly, I’ve had to opt-out not only from those who are doing or have done product launches, but I’ve also been opting out from the “Big Guru’s” lists.
Seeing over 100 emails come in a day talking about the latest and greatest product launch, jumping on the priority notification list to get a 20 minute head start, and on and on has become too overwhelming for me.
So today I officially quit trying to stay on top of every launch happening out there. Some of you may think I was crazy trying to follow everything happening, but what I’ve learned over the years watching both successful launches and launches that ended up in the trash were worth their weight in gold.
It’s Time To Zig While The World Zags!
In my other life (I have a few identities online), I tell people that they need to zig while everyone else is zagging. In other words, you need to find ways to make yourself (or your website) stand out and find ways to differentiate yourself. And another way to put it… you may need to get a little Whacked Out.
Now let me ask you, if you were about to launch your cool new software that every Internet Marketer and Blogger absolutely must own, how would you get the attention of someone like me who is now off of most people’s lists?
Your JV partners won’t reach me with their messages.
Your squeeze page video… although I may watch it, the odds of me opting into your list are slim to none.
You need to start zigging to reach people like me.
Think out of the box. Don’t be afraid to get a little Whacked Out.
You see, I’m in the process of planning a massive, massive launch for a new product/site I’m developing. It’s in a highly competitive market with thousands of marketers all screaming and trying to get people’s attention. In other words, it’s one of many niches where product launches easily fall into the abyss.
However, each and every single method that I’ll be using to initially launch the site are methods that (hopefully) will get the attention of my target market in ways that others have yet to figure out. Every method requires me to truly get out of my comfort zone and not only step outside the box, but to run 32 miles away from it into unchartered waters.
Just for the fun of it, I may post some results on this blog. Although I’ll never disclose the niche I’m jumping into, I’ll be able to share some of the methods I used and/or the numbers it generated.
Alright… I’ll fill you in on my plan… I’m planning on generating over 100,000 opt-ins in just a couple of months using some Whacked Out methods that I have never seen anyone do - as well as methods that I have seen some people do, but with some very unique twists on them.
I’ll also be trying to get a few sites to become highly viral and possibly even discussed in every newspaper and news station in the country. (My big hairy goal.)
I will also be trying to get celebrity endorsements…
And… the goal here is to launch a million-dollar business within just a few months by using totally Whacked Out Marketing techniques.
Over the last several years, I’ve had all of these crazy marketing ideas plop into my head. Most were laughable, but there were a few nuggets that I wrote down to save for a rainy day.
I decided to use each and every single one of my wild and crazy Whacked Out marketing ideas all at the same time to launch this new business.
Because I’m still several months away from the big official launch, I need to keep my mouth shut going forward. However, I wanted to let you know what was in the works because if everything works according to plan, maybe… just maybe product launches as we know them today… will never be the same again. :)
